Here at Vissia, we are excited to bring our clients the VI chemical exfoliation peel. This medium depth chemical peel consists of five different acids that gently remove the top layers of dead skin.
The VI Peel is also safe for all skin types, including darker tones. Performed in office, the procedure is quick and requires no anesthesia.
The treatment is relatively pain free and patients can return to their normal activities. The application process can take up to 30 minutes and involves the chemical solution being applied topically. After 5 hours, the client may wash off the peel and apply the after care products. Some clients experience light stinging during the application, which is normal!
Peeling will begin between days 2-4. Healthy tissue will begin to show!
From days 4-7, your skin will continue to peel.
You may experience unusual coloring, but more commonly looks like a sunburn that is peeling. After the peeling has finished, your skin will look luminous, smooth, and soft.
In order to achieve optimal results, more than one VI Peel may be necessary.
Frequently asked questions
How is the VI Peel different than other chemical peels?
Obsolete peels of the past, without exception, epitomize the “no pain, no gain” approach to skin care. Before Vi Peel, the deeper the peel, the more painful, the more downtime, the better the results. It is painless, yet produces dramatic visible results in just days with little downtime.
How much pre conditioning of the skin is required?
The Vi Peel requires no preconditioning of the skin associated with older generation peels that can take three to five months.
Does the peel burn?
Not really. Patients will feel a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds which subsides completely almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass. Some patients may feel more comfortable using a fan or cold air breeze.
How badly will I peel?
The skin peeling associated with the Vi Peel is a light, fluffy peel that will start on day three and generally be finished by the end of day four. The peeling is easily hidden by moisturizer. In some cases, the peel is virtually invisible.
Can I wear makeup?
While the long term goal is to eliminate the need to use any makeup, it may be worn at any time after the peel solution has dried. Makeup should not be applied on the days that the skin is peeling, just moisturizer. Makeup can then be resumed at any time after the skin peels.
Can I go in the sun after my VI Peel?
Sun exposure should be limited and adequate protection with a good sunscreen should be used. As part of the Vi Derm™ Skin Care System, sunscreen is provided to the patient along with moisturizer. However, the Vi Peel was created to be practical. The only days where exposure to the sun should be seriously avoided are days three and four, when the skin is peeling, to avoid uneven exposure. After that, the patient can enjoy moderate sun exposure, continuing regular “dentilized” skin care maintenance.
